Vega Sicilia Unico Reserva Especial 1981, 1986, 1990 (1997 Release)
In the Spain of yesteryear, when Cervantes wrote his masterpiece and gauchos roamed the countryside on horseback, wine was made according to tradition in two styles. Each Bodega issued two wines with each harvest: that of the current year and another without a specific vintage, which was called “Reserva Especial.” This second was a blend of wines from the best harvests, and was widely considered to be better, more interesting and complex than the vintage wine.
