Mouton Rothschild 1959
Tasted blind in a lineup of 5 great vintages of Mouton, this wine had a brilliant, deep red center with oranging rims. The medium+ intensity nose generated cherry, plum, mineral, Provencal herb, and roasted meat notes.
In the mouth, this was ripe and rich but gorgeously balanced with light tannin and great length. This wine was a monster and yet still gorgeously balanced. It is great now but will easily last for 30 more years.
