Willett 25 Years Family Estate Single Barrel Rye
Willett Distillery, based in Bardstown, Kentucky, is a renowned producer of both bourbon and rye whiskey.
The Willett family has deep roots in the whiskey business. Their involvement can be traced back to shortly after the Civil War. The modern iteration of the company began in 1936 when Thompson and Johnny Willett established it on their family farm.
In 1984, Even Kulsveen, who was Thompson Willett’s son-in-law, took ownership of the company and renamed it Kentucky Bourbon Distillers Ltd. While the name suggested a broader scope, the business stayed firmly rooted within the Willett family.
For nearly three decades – from 1984 to 2012 – the production of Willett whiskeys took place at undisclosed locations across Kentucky. This changed in 2012. At this point, the company established a new distillery and reintroduced the Willett name as its central brand identity.
The Willett Family Estate line has since become a hallmark of the brand, with its single-barrel straight rye whiskeys. Apart from this collection, the distillery also produces Johnny Drum and Old Bardstown bourbon lines for a larger audience. Their portfolio extends further with a variety of small-batch whiskeys.
